Sue Antoinette is going to Bosnia to see the Mother of God.
The goal of the last two years of her life, she says while sipping from a plastic cup, has been to get to know the Virgin better. Sue has heard about multiple miracles in the war zone. "The priests over there are nasty, but the women... they know what faith is."
Sue's black curls bob when she talks. She looks 25 but really she's around 40. I know this from my grandmother, whose party this is. Grandma says, "I've been Catholic for 80 years today and never seen a virgin."
But in this banquet hall there are at least fifteen people named Mary.
